SHOP INFO

Kyoto is home to many shops with long spanning histories from days of old. And we as well have stood on Shinmonzen Dori Street for over 180 years, operating a kimono shop with an appearance that has not changed since our beginnings.

After the war, lifestyles and society experienced major changes, but Kyoto is a place where a traditional Japanese cityscape and ambiance remains unchanged. Gazing at the hemp curtain displaying the Saito shop name that has been protected through the generations, we cannot help but feel the perseverance of our predecessors who survived through difficult times and their stance of cutting no corners in their work. It inspires us deeply.

From a single corner in the Gion area of Kyoto, we deliver the GION SAITO brand of hospitality from our hearts to the customer.

The storefront only has enough space to welcome one set of customers at a time, and this might present a bit of an intimidating atmosphere, but we always strive to listen to our customers and provide them with the options that most truly meet their needs. And we will continue to create items that delight the hearts of each individual customer.
